Years ago, a group of teenage friends spent a summer by the sea, and one of them grew up to paint it, a picture that made him famous. Now Louisa, an eighteen-year-old aspiring artist with little more than her talent, crosses paths with one of the friends from that summer and sets out to discover the story behind the painting. Fredrik Backman's warm, funny and heartbreaking novel about art, loss and the friendships that shape us.
